2 minute read

My homepage says this is “where I blog about life, tech, and everything else,” but I don’t know when I’ll get to that second part. I guess I’ve been focused on it and everything else for so long, and now I’m finally getting around to the life part. There’s a lot I’ve missed out on deferred, and need to get caught up on.

I do actually have a tech-related post, but it’s been in the drafts for months with no progress. One day I might get around to it.

So, what is this?

I wanna talk about the stuff I’ve been up to! I send a lot of stuff to friends, but I think it’d be fun to share a bit here, too.

Activities 🧗🏾‍♀️

I’m trying out new stuff. I did a bouldering technique class last week. I mean, I picked up a few things and learned, but I don’t think I’m gonna be a regular. I don’t have the arm strength (but that’s nothing new 😶‍🌫️), and I don’t think I’ll commit to it.

I also did some glass fusing back in the spring, that was a lot of fun. Here are a few pieces I made:

Fused glass landscape of a road with a road crossing a river, with train tracks on the far side, and a forest backdrop. But created by a total beginner, so it's a bit choppy and rectangular.
Fused glass landscape of a beach, with gentle waves on the water. The sun shines over the beach, with dark clouds looming over the water. Lying on the beach are robotic legs and a hip connection.
The second piece is a bit of closure on something I drew 18 months ago (those are robot legs on the beach). I'm glad I was able to capture that experience then and now.

I still need to get back out on the water, liquid and solid. I missed kayaking and skiing all of last year, so I have to make up for lost time. And I have other plans in mind, too.

Socializing™

I feel like this is either going to be a mild shock, or painfully obvious, to people that know me IRL. But I went clubbing recently, for the second time in my life (the first was only a year ago). And it’s been fun, I love talking to people and just enjoying the vibes. I’m genuinely an extrovert, so it’s nice to finally express that part of myself.

I’ve also been going to more casual events, like comedy clubs and random meetups. Pride Month was a great way to find stuff, and to just start getting out there.

Little things

Like spending the Easter Weekend in Muskoka with my family. Four days of lazy vibes and nice weather.

Or putting up artwork from various conventions. I even got them professionally framed and flush mounted. Just this morning, I finally hung my diploma:

My diploma, framed and mounted on the wall. The degree is a Bachelor of Applied Science with honours from the University of Toronto, dated June 18, 2024.
Took ya long enough.

It’s not the most exciting stuff, but it’s the little human things that mean a lot ☺️

🪧 [Audience applauds.]

Yep, just experiencing more life. I’m coming up on one year1 of that hormone. You know, the cool one, the one I might be slightly biased in favour of. So maybe I’ll throw out another blog post for the occasion. Or not. But either way, I’m pretty sure I’ll be having more fun than last year.

  1. No, I didn’t do hormones, my name change, and coming out all at once. But I did try to double-stack the latter.
